The Cadillac CTS is a nice vehicle by itself, offering [almost] the size, power and comfort of the BMW 5-series for the price of the 3-series. And with unique style. Moreover, the most powerful version, the CTS-V sedan, equipped with the 556-hp, 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 from the hi-end Chevrolet Corvette supercar, is one of the fastest production vehicles in the world, holding a number of lap records at the legendary Nurburgring track (and, by the way, making a lap faster than BMW M3, M5, Audi R8 and many other rocket-fast vehicles - en.wikipedia.org
And now a wagon version of the CTS-V will be available, making it one of the fastest wagons in the world, competing with cars like the Audi RS6, the Mercedes E63 AMG and... that`s it, this genre of Lamborghini-fast family wagons is limited to just a few elite car vendors.
The rear-wheel drive CTS-V Sport Wagon accelerates to 96 km/h (60 mph) in just 4.0 seconds. Top speed hasn`t been revealed yet, but the sedan CTS-V has claimed top speed of 280 km/h with six-speed automatic transmission and 305 km/h with a manual one. While German competitors follow the "gentlemen's agreement" to electronically limit their vehicles speed to 250 km/h, Cadillac allows its cars to run as fast as they really can (for good or bad, that is up to buyers to decide).
To improve speed management, the Sport Wagon is equipped with sport magnetorheological dampers, Brembo brakes and high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 tires. And to improve family picnics, it also has stuff like power tailgate, panoramic sunroof, Bose audio system with 40-Gb hard drive etc. The cars will be available late this year with base price of about $65.000 in the USA. Also a European version will be available, since this is actually the only real market for high-performance wagons. Considering that Cadillac usually provides nearly-maximum base equipment, and while German competitors, the Audi RS6 and Mercedes E63AMG cost about 50% more, this price actually looks like a bargain.
